Today we welcomed Val Hebblethwaite for an experimental afternoon working with a new synthetic paper, Yupa which has a smooth non absorbent surface which helps create exciting effects but it takes time to dry. We started experimenting with different combinations; working on dry paper, wet paper, using alcoholic medium, salt and cling film. Then members experimented using some of the techniques to paint a flower. None of the flowers were completed during the session because we ran out of time.

Today the group benefited from a wonderful impressionist workshop delivered by Graham Lowe, a professional artist from Lancaster. Graham's aim was to get us painting in a more free and expressive way. He certainly succeeded. Using a Monet painting as an exciting challenging process. The end results were amazing. All agreed it was an enjoyable and informative session.

Today we welcomed Graham Twyford, always a pleasure, to take a workshop using water based oils. Graham started with a demonstration of the technique and kept adding to composition after we had all caught up. It was a most enjoyable afternoon and amazing how many variations of the subject were painted. Here are just some of our work.

Paul welcomed all back from the summer break and including five new members. New programmes were distributed before Kay presented our challenge for today. From clues she gave us about objects and colours we had to attempt to paint our own version. Some took it far more seriously than other and the outcome was varied even to include the fantasy for a child's book.
The Old Masters painting was only revealed at the end of the afternoon!!!!!...….a TURNER...…..obviously the first illustration!!!
